Packaging EPR Registration: A Seller’s Pre-Registration Checklist
Before opening a national packaging register, prepare your business identity, brands, target market, packaging categories and volume data. The register determines the final fields, but missing data is the usual reason a simple registration turns into a slow project.
Start with the legal entity and role
Record the entity that sells, imports or first makes the packaged item available in the destination market. If several parties touch the product, document the supply chain rather than guessing.
Build a packaging file
Separate the product packaging, shipping packaging and any other relevant components. Capture material and weight by unit, then add annual units per country.
Keep evidence beside the numbers
Retain supplier specifications, bills of materials and version dates. A spreadsheet without a source trail is difficult to update or defend.
Start with the checker
Use the Packaging EPR Checker to create a market-by-market action list, then open the official sources before acting.
Questions sellers ask
Can I estimate packaging weights?
Use supplier-confirmed figures whenever possible. If an estimate is used for planning, label it and replace it before submitting a declaration.
Do I need a brand list?
Some registers request brand information. Prepare it early, then follow the exact register instructions for your market.
